Hello out there, we at Ghost Augustine offer several tours, each and every tour is different but they have a few things in common. The Haunted pub tour goes to a few pubs, you get a spooky story about the pub then you get to go in and have a few drinks. The Haunted St. Augustine tour you get to use a couple of pieces of equipment that the ghost shows uses. The Dead Walk you go down the spooky south side and hear stories of long ago plus you get to go in a haunted building. The last tour we do is the Hearse ride, this is the ultimate spooky ride that takes you to a haunted building, the grounds of the lighthouse and to a few more places. It is well documented that one of the three girls that died in an accident at the St. Augustine lighthouse in 1871 is named Eliza. Well, on our Hearse Ride tour this week our tour guide Tracy caught her voice on tape. When asked what her name is one can here “iza”. It is fast but it is audible. Then when asked what she likes to play one can hear her say “jump rope”. We often have interactions with the child ghosts on the St. Augustine Lighthouse grounds. This is Tracy, your friendly St. Augustine ghost hostess checking in to tell you about some crazy creepiness going on at the lighthouse. Just to back it up a little bit, we have been getting incredible action using our K2 meters communicating with the spirits on the lighthouse grounds. Even on quiet nights we are never disappointed! According to our awesome hearse driver, Eddie there has been increased activity in the tree covered areas surrounding the lightkeepers house and the playground……namely DARK SHADOWS.  He had tour guests witness a shadow person pass right beside them. Our hearse driver Eddie has figured out that the 74 hearse is haunted. He worked for about a month to figure out who was in the hearse. They would try names until one day they hit on the name Emma. They have figured out that it is a little girl is between the ages of 9-11. She is very active when they get near the lighthouse.  Emma does not like it when the driver of the hearse talks about the hauntings of the buildings, especially when the story is about children.

Our tour guide, Tracy (Haunted St. Augustine and Hearse Rides) was interviewed along with GhoSt Augustine founder, Jonas on the Marv Cutler radio show on January 7th. Marv is very curious about the paranormal and has had some very interesting experiences which he shared on the show. Hot off the press — the newest book on the paranormal, “Historic Haunts Florida” by GhoSt Augustine’s Manager and Founder of Historic Haunts. Jamie Roush has studied the paranormal for years and has been an investigator for 15 years. She has managed GhoSt Augustine for almost 2.5 years and has finally completed her first book. The book features historic locations across the state that are known to be haunted. Historic Haunts Florida even features a story about the Original Hearses Rides. In the weeks surrounding Halloween, we experienced a marked increase in activity.  There were stories and photos from people who came back in to show us the day after their tours.  We are still awaiting the images.  There were stories of activity on nearly all of the tours! I wish to share one of my very own experiences with all of you.  I was at my first stop on the Pub Hearse Tour and had a sighting!!!  Now, to get the location, you’ll have to take the tour, but I will share what I saw that night. This interesting film was sent in by Ben M. from Austin, Tx. While on our Haunted Pub Tour Ben had his camera running and caught the ghost in resident making the water run in the women’s restroom. She is famous for turning the water on if she doesn’t like the occupant. Someone calls out to ghost to slow the water down and turn it off and SHE DOES! Pay close attention to the video. This is a faucet with handles NOT a modern automatic with sensors (which would be the explanation). Wow! this is spectacular. Thank you Ben for giving Ghost Augustine permission to use your footage. Recently our office admin Thomasina was attempting to photograph one of our hearses to use for a postcard when she had a spooky experience. Its seems as if our hearse resident FRANKIE wanted to “hearse around” with our new employee and show her he was king of the hearse! First she couldn’t gain access to the hearse by using the set of keys; then she was not able to lock the doors after she photographed the inside of the vehicle. Each time that she attempted to photograph the loading door area (caskets) the door would slam shut on her! Its a good thing that she was pretty quick otherwise that heavy door would have had her laid out flat in the loading area (caskets). Recently there was a new paranormal experience which involved a young guest on the tour while at Miss Caroline’s Inn. The guide of the evening was Maria who has been with us for one year. During Maria’s  ghostly account of past incidents at the inn, the guest who was a young woman in her 20’s was seen shivering as the group neared the entry stairway. What caused the young miss’s shivering was an entity of a young woman dressed in white and in her early 20’s. The entity was seen by the stairway. What we are guessing is that the sudden occurrence was triggered by something that the young woman had in common with the ghost. Wow — another great experience!
