Tales from The Dixie House: Orbs

One of our tour guides was investigating the Dixie House with her group and later told us about an interesting experience she had.

The Dixie House had been unusually quiet that evening. Veronika, one of our paranormal investigators, was leading a group through the house as part of the Everdark Express experience. The group had explored the house’s rooms, and were preparing to leave..

One of the guests excused themselves to visit the bathroom, leaving Veronika stationed near the camera equipment with another participant. While casually reviewing the footage and chatting, something on the monitor caught her attention.

The camera positioned in the Powder Room, a space with a history of inexplicable phenomena, revealed a strange sight. A peculiar orb appeared on the screen—not the faint, fleeting kind often dismissed as dust or light reflections. This orb seemed to emerge from the floor itself, moving with a sense of intention, its path deliberate and measured.

Typically, orbs caught on camera have simple explanations. Dust particles drift aimlessly, often accompanied by numerous similar specks, while insects move erratically with a shape that shows their wings in motion. Lens flare, on the other hand, coincides with a visible light source. Yet, none of these common explanations fit what Veronika was witnessing.

In the realm of the paranormal, orbs are frequently reported as balls of energy—one of the more familiar yet controversial forms of evidence. While many can be debunked with logical explanations, not all are so easily dismissed. The subtle nature of paranormal activity often requires meticulous scrutiny of every anomaly, and this particular orb demanded closer investigation.
