Since 2001, we have run the oldest and only store dedicated to ghost hunting equipment in St. Augustine, FL – which happens to be the oldest city in America. St. Augustine was founded in 1565 by the Spanish and is probably the most haunted town in the U.S.A.
We have two brick and mortar stores and an online store GhostHuntersEquipment.com, which is one of the largest online marketplaces for paranormal equipment.
Even though our doors opened in May 2001, and we sold equipment to track ghosts, and discounted tour tickets to the two existing walking tours, it was not until the following year 2002 that we began to offer our own tours and paranormal investigation experiences.
We’re happy and proud to have stamped our place in history as the company that is behind the success of the K-II EMF Meter, popularly referred to as the K2 Meter.
Our founder, Jonas, believed the neat little K2 EMF device had a great future for paranormal investigations use. Back in the early 00’s the K2 was only manufactured for personal EMF safety awareness and shockingly one day in 2004 he was called up by the manufacturer and told it was going to be taken out of production. He really wanted the meter to be around for paranormal research. It was not well known at all at the time. It had not yet been on any paranormal TV show. He decided to take a risk and offer to fund its continued production. The manufacturer agreed to keep on manufacturing it solely for GhoSt Augustine. It was now going to be produced for the purpose of ghost busting rather than for EMF safety monitoring. Instead of the meter being taken out of production, his leap of faith and investment led to that the K2 Meter survived and gradually little by little by through the paranormal community spreading the word about how great it was for investigations – it eventually made it on the TV show The Ghost Hunters in 2007 and that paved the road to success for the K2 Meter. It has since then become the most popular and well-known instrument for investigating the paranormal.
