Haunted Florida: Coral Castle

Homestead, Florida is home to to Coral Castle- a structure that has captured the imagination for decades. Built entirely of coral rock, Coral Castle is widely considered to be one of the strangest in the country- and also has earned a reputation for being haunted by its creator, Edward Leedskalnin.

Edward Leedskalnin

Also known as “Rock Gate Park,” Coral Castle  was built by the Latvian immigrant Edward Leedskalnin between 1923 and 1951. Mystery surrounds how Leedskalnin managed to transport, and sculpt these massive blocks without assistance.Some stones weighs as much as 30 tons.

Legend has it that Leedskalnin possessed esoteric knowledge of magnetism and anti-gravity, which he used to manipulate the stones with the power of his mind, though he never revealed the secret behind his construction techniques.

The Mystery

As guests explore Coral Castle’s many structures, several report tales of ghostly apparitions, disembodied voices, and inexplicable movements have fueled the belief that the Coral Castle is haunted by Leedskalnin himself.

Some claim to have witnessed Leedskalnin’s ghostly figure roaming the grounds at night, while others report hearing his faint whispers echoing through the corridors.

Despite numerous theories and investigations, the true secrets of the Coral Castle remain elusive. While some suggest that Leedskalnin’s knowledge of magnetism and leverage techniques enabled him to construct the site, others speculate that he was aided by otherworldly forces or possessed ancient wisdom lost to time.
